Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Course
The Wilderness First Responder course is designed for those working or travelling in remote areas.
Ideal for rescue personnel, expedition staff, group leaders, adventure guides, forestry workers and media teams. the course develops the knowledge and skills to manage medical emergencies in remote areas.
This hybrid course allows delegates to review the didactic material during a self-paced online distance learning course, before joining the in-person phase to develop competencies through skills stations, group exercises and scenario-based training.
Curriculum
The curriculum emphasizes decision-making, leadership, and critical thinking, and is taught by experienced instructors with strong medical and field backgrounds.

Course Format (Hybrid: Online & In-Person)
Our WFR course blends the flexibility of self-paced distance learning with in-person skills and scenario-based learning, including:
Phase 1: 24 hours of online learning
Phase 2: 3-day in-person practical sessions
The in-person days involve a combination of didactic lectures, small group discussions, practical skills sessions, and live scenario-based training in-context.
Accreditation
The course culminates in a certificate of completion from Base Medical & SOS Medical Services and UK Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits.
